Renee Leverty is a sculptor who works primarily with metal. She uses a torch or arc welder as she sculpts brass and steel. For aluminum, bronze or iron she builds molds and creates work through the casting process. Her sculptures show the interconnectedness of nature, self, and community. She believes art can transform a person, as well as a place. Her studio is an old pizza restaurant in Durham.
