Call for Artists: Truth to Power 3

“Truth to Power” is an annual community juried show focusing on matters of social justice. The title, derived from a 1955 Quaker pamphlet, “Speak Truth to Power” illustrates a commitment to voicing our diverse truths to the systems and individuals shaping the society in which we live.

This exhibit marks our third annual show about social justice. The exhibit is intentionally broad in scope so that each artist may address issues of personal, local, national, and/or international importance.  The exhibit is open to all North Carolina artists working in 2D and 3D media. Each artist may submit up to two entries for consideration. There is a $20 entry fee per artist.

Truth to Power 3 will run from July 30 to August 30, 2015, with a Third Friday Reception and Artist/Juror Talk on August 21st from 6-9 pm.

This year’s Truth to Power exhibit will be juried by elin o’hara slavick: Professor of Art at UNC Chapel Hill, international exhibitor, and author of Bomb After Bomb: A Violent Cartography and After Hiroshima. She also is a curator, critic, and activist.

Visitors to the exhibit will cast votes for a People’s Choice Award, the winner of which will be announced at the reception on August 21st.
